THE PEARL OF THE MAREMMA COAST Well-known seaside resort, Punta Ala is a hamlet of Castiglione della Pescaia (Gulf of Follonica, Grosseto).Known initially as Punta Troia, it takes its current name from the Italian aviator Italo Balbo.It stretches along the coast for 2 km and, laying on the slopes of the homonymous promontory, reaches the sea to which it joins protected and shaded by a thick pine forest and Mediterranean vegetation typical of the territory of Maremma. During sky clear days you can enjoybreathtaking views and admire the Elba Island and the rocks of “Three Pigs” and “Sparrow”. From the beach you can admire historic buildings such as the Hidalgo Tower and, at a higher point, the Italo Balbo Castle. With an exclusive and renowned tourist harbor, Punta Ala was also the home of the launch and departing point of the sailing adventure of Luna Rossa. |
